Luxury Inspired By You.™

We believe that something fundamental is missing in luxury.

You and me – the customer.

Not so long ago, luxury was about creating beautiful and unique custom products based on your individual preferences, taste and budget – and handcrafted by skilled artisans. But mass production has eliminated the voice of the customer except at the highest levels, where a custom product now commands a huge premium and takes several months to produce. Beyond this sea of sameness, the luxury goods industry structure drives increasingly absurd prices, and a culture of pretense and elitism along with it.

We started 1Atelier because we want to Redefine Luxury. Actually, we'd like you to redefine luxury with us, by actively participating in the creation of your product. Starting with handbags, we are building a transformational luxury brand that delivers exquisitely handcrafted custom products, manufactured in New York City, at a price that reflects only what went into making your product, and delivered in less than 21 days. 1Atelier represents a return to True Luxury, defined by Craftsmanship, Quality, and having something beautiful Made Just For You.

We're bringing luxury back to what it once was, in a way it could only happen today. Join us.

Individuality has its own status.

The Luxury Of Customized Craftsmanship

We believe that True Luxury is defined by Craftsmanship, Quality and having something beautiful Made Just For You. We know — we’ve been doing this for over 50 years.

We bring unparalleled expertise and experience to our quest to build a transformational luxury brand. We work with the best tanneries in the world, we use solid brass hardware with precious metal finishes, and we meticulously handcraft our custom handbags at our atelier in the NYC Garment District.

Craftsmanship is just that — a craft, an art. It stands on its own, punctuated by your hand and your individual sense of what makes you unique. Let us show you True Luxury.

How We Do It

Most beautifully crafted handbags begin their lives in a similar way, regardless of where they are made: The best materials combine with remarkably gifted artisans. It’s from that point, however, that luxury can go completely awry. Large, multi-layered companies, with inflated costs and traditional processes decide what you want and market it heavily to convince you of a choice you didn’t actually make. Luxury Retailers buy those goods, further inflate prices, and narrow your choices even more, as they remove you completely from the process. You end up with the same choices everyone has, that ignore your personal needs and desires, at inflated prices caused by the many layers between you and the maker. It wasn’t always like this, and it no longer needs to be.

Why you overpay for product that’s neither unique nor exactly what you want:

Graphical representation of the layers of extra markup

At 1Atelier, we design and produce our own product, as you like it. You purchase your handbag directly from the atelier where it's made. All the layers are eliminated, giving you a handbag that expresses your individuality at a price that reflects only what went into making it.

That’s True Luxury.

Unparalleled Expertise in Luxury Leathergoods

Stephanie Sarka, CEO, is a seasoned entrepreneur with deep experience in building businesses and brands. Initially following the traditional path to Goldman Sachs, she quickly realized that she is a builder, not a banker. So she went to Paris to work for a year at International Flavors & Fragrances. After getting her MBA at Harvard, she worked for Lew Frankfort at Coach for seven years, where she earned her stripes as a “merchant” and an “operator” and held numerous leadership positions; she also led the successful re-launch of Mark Cross, the American luxury goods brand. Stephanie was subsequently a co-founder of Overture (formerly GoTo), one of the first hugely successful Internet companies; they invented the paid search business model, growing the business to almost $1 bn in revenue in 4 years. Since then, she has been actively engaged in the burgeoning NYC startup community as an entrepreneur, investor and advisor.

Frank Zambrelli, Creative Director & Designer, has an extensive background in product design, branding and production technology for luxury leathergoods. Headed for medical school, an unexpected trip to the European fashion shows radically altered his plans. He instead went to the Fashion Institute of Technology and graduated with a dream job at Chanel, working between Paris and New York, during the brand’s renaissance under Karl Lagerfeld. At Cole Haan, under the guidance of John Varvatos, he further developed his craft in European factories. Frank subsequently went to Coach where he led the successful launch of the venerable firm’s foray into footwear. Ten years ago, he and a colleague at Coach began their own design studio where they were instrumental in the success of major brands including Calvin Klein Collection, Derek Lam, Marchesa, Hunter Boot, Judith Leiber, Ghurka, and many others. Frank is the current chairman of the Accessories Council.

Anthony Luciano, Master Craftsman, is an American luxury handbag designer of Italian heritage, and one of the only remaining bespoke handbag craftsmen in the United States. His passion for his craft was ignited at an early age at the side of his mother, a seamstress, and his father, a skilled carpenter – from whom he inherited his penchant for handwork and meticulous craftsmanship. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Anthony worked in several aspects of the fashion industry before becoming design director at an independent accessories company. It was there that he realized his innate desire to create one-of-a-kind handbags. He launched his eponymous label in 2000 and was immediately picked up by Bergdorf Goodman, Stanley Korshak and Lane Crawford. Anthony has an ardently loyal following, both on and off the red carpet, with his couture handbags sold in select Neiman Marcus stores and specialty boutiques across the globe.

THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY REGARDLESS OF LEGAL THEORY, WHETHER BASED ON TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, BREACH OF CONTRACT, BREACH OF WARRANTY OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT 1Atelier WAS ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate your right to use the Services or block or prevent your access to the Services, with or without cause, and without providing you with notice or reason. In the event of termination, your obligations under these Terms will still continue.

Governing Law

You agree that this Site shall be deemed a passive website solely based in New York, USA, which does not give rise to personal jurisdiction over 1Atelier in jurisdictions other than New York. The laws of the State of New York will govern these Terms of Use and the relationship between you and 1Atelier as if you signed these Terms in New York, without regard to New York State's conflicts of laws rules. If any provisions of these Terms are inconsistent with any applicable law, those provisions will be superseded and/or modified only to the extent such provisions are inconsistent. The parties agree to submit to the federal or state courts in New York County, New York for exclusive jurisdiction of any dispute arising out of or related to your use of the Services or your breach of these Terms.

Severability

If any part of these Terms is invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that term will be deemed severable and limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary. The limitation or elimination of the term will not affect any other terms.

Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and 1Atelier and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals, whether electronic, oral, or written with respect to these Services. Any rights not expressly granted herein are reserved.

Miscellaneous

We are not liable for any failure to perform any of our obligations stated in these Terms if the failure results from a cause beyond our reasonable control, including—without limitation—mechanical, electronic or communications failure or degradation.

You cannot assign, transfer or sublicense these Terms without first obtaining our consent. We may assign, transfer, or delegate any of our rights and obligations without consent. These Terms do not create any agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship, and neither party has any authority to bind the other in any respect.

If we do not enforce any part of these Terms, it does not mean we give up the right to later enforce that or any other part of these Terms. In order for any waiver of compliance with these Terms to be binding, we must provide you with written notice of such waiver.

The section and paragraph headings in these Terms are for convenience only and do not affect their interpretation
